denounces ULAP elections, demands a new one under DILG

LPP
Chairman Gov. Villafuerte and LPP President Gov. Leo
Ocampos call on the governors to urge the respective
provincial chapters of the LGU leagues under them to
issue a statement in support of the LPP’s position
on the ULAP elections. |
Conduct
a new election under the watchful eye of the DILG.
The League of Provinces of the Philippines demanded from the
ULAP a new election to be conducted under the supervision
of the DILG, following its denouncement of the June 9, 2008
elections.
During its 4th General Assembly held last June 16, the League
decided as a body to denounce and not recognize the ULAP election
because the manner of calling the election was marred by irregularities,
highly questionable acts, deception and other acts inimical
to the spirit and intent of ULAP.
To formalize this intent, the LPP approved Resolution No.
2008-012 denouncing and not recognizing the ULAP election
of 9 June 2008 and demanding a new election to be supervised
by the DILG.

Help
for calamity-stricken provinces sought from better-off LGUs
With
billions of pesos worth of crop, properties and infrastructure
facilities severely damaged and thousands of people displaced
in the aftermath of typhoon Frank, the League of Provinces
of the Philippines is calling on the better-off provinces
to help out disaster-stricken LGUs.
League president and Misamis Occidental Gov. Loreto Leo S.
Ocampos issued last July 1, Memorandum Circular No. 2008-013
calling on the more fortunate member-provinces to provide
financial assistance to the provinces that were hardest hit
by Typhoon Frank.
