Datu Sajid Islam Uy Ampatuan, Al Haj assumed the governorship of the Province of Maguindanao in 2009, succeeding his father, Gov. Datu Andal.
This 28-year old provincial chief executive begun his career in the public service in 2003 when he served as the Vice-Mayor of the Municipality of Datu Unday until 2006. After serving a three-year term, he became vice-governor of Maguindanao Province from 2006-2009.
He was one of the prime-movers of the Peace and Security Summit for Local Government Units of Maguindanao and Shariff Kabunsuan Province.
Gov. Ampatuan was born on October 5, 1982 in Cotabato City to Gov. Datu Andal S. Ampatuan Sr., Al Haj and Bai Laila Uy-Ampatuan, Al Haj.
After completing his elementary and secondary education at the Shariff Ampatuan Central Elementary School and the Maguindanao National High School, respectively, Gov. Ampatuan pursued his tertiary education in the University of Mindanao in Davao City.
He is married to Bai Zandria S. Ampatuan.
