| Zamboanga
del Sur Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles was born on September
17, 1949 in Oroquieta City.
Governor Cerilles,
Au as she is fondly called, is a holder of a Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration from the University of the
East.
After college, she
worked as a bookkeeper and subsequently a window teller of
the Philippine National Bank.
When she was first
elected as governor in 2001, Governor Cerilles used her forte
in accountancy to her advantage, and gathered her experience
in the field of administrative and financial management to
push her administration forward.
After being re-elected
for her third term during the May 14, 2007 election, Gov.
Cerilles continues to push for developmental programs that
will keep Zamboanga del Sur at par with the top economies
of the Mindanao cluster of provinces. She is particularly
keen on business development, peace and order, social development
with emphasis on women’s programs, and eco-tourism.
She is stepping up the race to make Pagadian City an investment
destination in the region.
Gov.
Cerilles is married to lawyer and Zamboanga del Sur’s
2nd District Rep. Antonio H. Cerilles, with whom she has a
son, Ace William.
