| Destined
to be a leader, the 29-year-old Governor of the Province of
Quirino assumed office on July 1, 2007 armed with the dedication
and commitment to serve with transparency and sincerity. Born
from a family of politicians, his father Junie E. Cua is the
incumbent Congressman of the Lone District of Quirino, and
her mother, Ma. Angela E. Cua is a former congresswoman.
Trained and molded
during his two terms as vice governor, this young chief executive
had introduced numerous programs, activities and innovations
aimed at cultivating the innate desire of the youth to participate
in the development of the province. Believing that “the
youths are the hope of the Fatherland” as envisioned
by his ancestor, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, Governor Dakila Carlo
“Dax” Cua championed the welfare and future of
the youth of Quirino. He founded the movement for the Integrated
Development of the Youth (MIDY) aimed at developing the holistic
well-being of the youth. Leadership trainings, academic contests,
Youth In Sync, Vice Governor’s Cup and the recently
launched “Iyong Serbisyo, Sagot sa Edukasyon Mo”
(ISSEM) scholarship project were among his regular programs.
He regularly conducted
outreach medical missions to the barangays giving free health
services and medicines, thereby improving the health conditions
of the constituents. This young man is also supportive of
non-government organizations and civic organizations whereby
human resource and livelihood development of the province
is their primordial concern.
Due to his sterling
leadership, he was granted the following awards: Gawad KKK
Outstanding Youth of the Philippines and Gawad Parangal ng
Bayan’s Most Outstanding Vice Governor of the Philippines.
He also closely worked with the sanggunian secretaries of
the province in coming up with a training design solely for
local legislative employees. Recently, he was elected as Regional
Chairman for the Cagayan Valley Region of the League of Provinces
of the Philippines and a member of the National Executive
Board.
With
his laudable contributions to the province, surely, being
in the gubernatorial seat would mean more innovative programs
and projects geared at developing the province, and more so
with his vibrant style of leadership, will surely redound
to the improvement of the quality of life of his constituents.
