| As
a person, Governor Luisa Lloren “Banti” Cuaresma
can be likened to a butterfly whose life has metamorphosed
from being a cocooned and contented housewife into a political
figure who was catapulted to the highest elective position
in the province of Nueva Vizcaya.
Born on January 18,
1955 in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya to Judge Vicente Tabora Lloren
and Lolita Bastero Garingan, Gov. Banti attended elementary
school at Aritao Central School and finished secondary schooling
at St. Teresita’s Academy. In 1977, she graduated with
a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at the Centro Escolar
University, Manila.
First and foremost,
Banti is a mother to her four children, Benjamin Cuaresma
III, who is now the municipal mayor of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya;
Luisa Marie; Lloyd and Luisa Corazon. Before the untimely
demise of her husband, she has always prided herself in being
a mother. The unfortunate event that befell her husband, who
was at that time the mayor of the Municipality of Bambang,
not only brought on her shoulders the sole responsibility
of raising her children but also caused her to take on the
bigger responsibility of being the mother of Bambang which
was also orphaned by Mayor Boying’s demise.
Her political career
started as the first and only woman municipal mayor of Bambang
for three consecutive terms. On July 1, 1998, she assumed
as vice-governor of the province and on May 10, 2004 was elected
as the provincial governor. Now on her second term, she is
continuing her own style of political leadership and governance,
giving paramount importance to development programs and projects
in education, infrastructure, agriculture and health of the
more or less 400,000 Novo Vizcayanos.
“Abante Vizcaya”
embodies the dreams and hopes of every Novo Vizcayano…The
Banti leadership can be best described as one which crosses
the barriers of political differences. He goal has always
been to unite local politicians for the cause of the province;
thus, there is no other way than to move forward…onward
to progress and onward to sustainable development.
Abante Vizcaya!
