| Governor
Rodolfo P. del Rosario obtained his Bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration from the Ateneo de Davao University.
He joined the corporate business world for a time, and was
connected with ANFLO Management and Investment Corp., United
Financial Corp., Pioneer Trading and Supply and Worldwide
Agri-Development Corporation.
He spent a major part of his
political career in the houses of Congress, starting his years
as assemblyman of the Interim and Batasang Pambansa from the
late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Concurrently, he served as minister,
cabinet rank, in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and of
Natural Resources until 1986.
With the restoration of democracy,
Governor Dolfo, as he is fondly called, continued to serve
the legislature. He was voted to represent the 3rd District
of Davao del Norte in the House of Representatives for three
consecutive terms in 1987, 1992 and 1995. Among the congressional
bodies and committees he served were the Commission on Appointments,
Agricultural Modernization, Constitutional Amendments and
Justice.
He was elected as governor
in 1998, and reelected in 2001. During his second term in
2001, he was elected by his peers to be the president of the
League of Provinces of the Philippines and, subsequently,
the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines. In the
course of the service, he represented the private sector at
the International Government Group on Bananas in Rome in 1976
and headed the Philippine delegations to the 9th World Forestry
Congress in Mexico in 1985 and the UN 9th Session on Natural
Resources in 1985.
In 2004, Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
appointed him as Presidential Assistant on New Government
Centers.
During the May 14, 2007 elections,
he joined once more in the gubernatorial race and handily
won the mandate of the constituents of Davao del Norte. He
was likewise appointed to co-chair the Council of Advisers
of the League of Provinces of the Philippines.
