| Migs,
as he is fondly called, is the youngest governor in Mindanao.
First elected and sworn into office on 30 June 2004, he vows
to deliver on his campaign promise of “Pagbag-o, Paglaum,
Paglambo” (Change, Hope and Development).
Migs
earned his degree in AB Economics, minor in Rural Development,
from Boston College in the United States. A few weeks after
he graduated in 1999, he moved back to join the family business
as a management trainee based in Alabel, Sarangani. In 2003,
he was National Sales and Marketing Manager of the Alsons
Aquaculture Corporation, earning for the brand “Sarangani
Bay” brand a strong hold in the international markets,
particularly in the US, Japan and Europe.
He
envisions Sarangani as the aquaculture center of the Philippines,
diligently widening his network and organizing the Chamber
of Aquaculture and Ancillary Industries of Sarangani, Inc.
(CHAINS), of which he became the first president in 2002.
He was particularly active in starting, in the same year,
the Annual Aquaculture Exposition in Sarangani, and in pushing
for the success of CHAINS’ Grouper and Seabass Growership
Project with the Sapu Padidu Small Fishermen Cooperative.
He also became a Director of the Fisheries and Aquatic Board
of the Philippines in 2002.
When
Migs was asked to run for governor by the Sarangani Reconciliation
and Reformation Organization (SARRO), the local political
party started by the Chiongbians, Migs did not hesitate to
accept the challenge, believing that he has much to contribute
to the development of the province. He and his running mates’
untiring efforts in the campaign trail got him 61% of the
votes, and it was a landslide victory for SARRO, province-wide.
Now
into his second term, Migs the Sarangani Governor is aggressively
inviting foreign and local investments to the province. He
has so far succeeded in professionalizing and upgrading his
work team in the Provincial Capitol, gearing them for socio-economic
takeoff.
Gov.
Dominguez also sits in the National Executive Board of the
League of Provinces of the Philippines as the regional chairman
of Region XII.
Migs
was born on February 5, 1977. He is single.
