Elisa Olga T. Kho is no stranger when it comes to the affairs
of the Provincial Government of Masbate. Prior to her election
as governor during the May 14, 2007 elections, she was Masbate’s
Provincial Health Officer.
Shortly after passing the
medical board examinations with a grade of 80.38% in 1981,
she spent her medical residency in Pulmonary Medicine at the
Veterans Memorial Medical Center. Following her four-year
stint there, she pursued a consultancy in Pulmonary Medicine
in Metro Manila.
On August 22, 2003, she joined
the provincial government as its provincial health officer
until January 2, 2004. She once more assumed the position
on April 2, 2006 until March 28, 2007 when she formalized
her candidacy for the May 14, 2007 gubernatorial race in Masbate
and emerged victorious.
After completing her degree
Bachelor of Science in General at the University of Santo
Tomas in 1976, she took up her Doctor of Medicine at the same
institution and graduated in 1980.
A woman of vision, a workaholic
and a disciplinarian, Gov. Kho is wife of the former governor,
now congressman of the 2nd District of Masbate, Antonio Kho.
She is a mother of two – a boy and a girl.
