Joselito Andrew R. Mendoza, or simply Jonjon, is a true Bulakenyo.
Born, raised, and educated in Bulacan, he continues to live,
work and serve the Bulakenyos.
A native of Bocaue, Bulacan, Gov. Jonjon’s innate sense
of people skills, courage, hardwork and his unwavering pursuit
for service and excellence has made him one of the province’s
distinguished community leaders.
Gov. Jonjon is the eldest son of JM Mendoza, an entrepreneur,
and Illuminada Roxas, a public school teacher, both from the
town of Bocaue.
A product of the province’s educational system, he finished
his primary and secondary education in St. Paul College of
Bocaue. Pursuing his passion for community development and
livestock industry Bulacan is known for, Gov. Jonjon graduated
with a degree in animal husbandry at the Araneta University.
He further honed his entrepreneurial skills at the University
of Asia and the Pacific where he attended a program on strategic
business economics and his leadership values from the Kennedy
School of Government, Harvard University in Boston, USA, where
he took courses in government performance and leadership strategies.
A firm believer of entrepreneurship, Gov. Jonjon decided to
start his own business after college by establishing Freeway
Motor Corporation in Baliuag, Bulacan. While managing his
own business, he also worked his way up in the family business,
becoming a Vice President for Sales and Marketing of JM Enterprises
in 2002.
Instilled with the values of excellence and service, Jonjon
heeded the longtime clamor of his community to serve and became
the barangay captain of the place he grew up in Duhat, Bocaue,
Bulacan.
As a community leader, he established programs strenghtening
small and medium enterprises, and the development of youth
values and skills. The success of his program then paved the
way for his election as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay
in Bulacan, thereby granting him the position of ex-officio
member in the Provincial Board. In May 2007, he was elected
as the new chief executive of the Province of Bulacan.
Gov. Jonjon is married to Violeta Tayao from Calumpit town
and blessed with three children: Joseph Andrew, Jose Manuel
and Sofia Ysabel. His siblings include three-termer Bulacan
Governor Josie Mendoza-dela Cruz.
