Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte, Jr. is a man whose
achievements can only be surpassed by his determination to
make a difference in public service. As a multi-awarded entrepreneur
of 17 years, LRay’s creativity and marketing genius
put his company, LGD (Lara’s Gifts And Decors), amongst
the country’s roster of leading exporters. As toym awardee
for excellence in entrepreneurship, he distinguished himself
as one of the country’s innovative businessmen who carved
a name in the global market for his innovative handicraft
to technocraft approach.
Private success only propelled LRay to duplicate his determination
and commitment to run the province of Camarines Sur as its
chief executive officer. To date, it is the first and only
LGU to run a PEZA-approved information and communications
technology park with programs such as English proficiency,
Japanese Language Learning Institute, medical transcription
and animation, among others. He built the Camarines Sur Water
Sports Complex, which is hailed as being the best in the world
and thus far, it has made the province a hub for adventure
sports enthusiasts from all over the world. Under his helm,
the Provincial Capitol Complex has become an ideal site for
investors who now see Camarines Sur as an ideal destination
because of the many incentives that gov. Lray has packaged.
His efforts have attracted serious interest from American,
Australian, Korean, Japanese and Indian business groups and
soon enough, he will have the first BPO locator right in the
heart of the capitol complex.
These achievements are only a preview of what he has in store
for the people of Camarines Sur because he intends to fully
develop and operationalize a masterplan that will modernize
his province and turn it into another eco-tourism haven for
local and international tourists.
As
Gov. LRay puts it, “I want Cam Sur to be right there
in the global map of tourism and investment opportunity. We
have the best that nature has to offer, we have topnotch people
skills and we are the region’s academic center. I am
more than happy to note that our local economic growth is
reflecting the more than positive results that our efforts
are yielding. This is only the beginning of better things
to come as more and more people discover what Cam Sur has
to offer.”
Gov. LRay chairs the Regional Development Council of Region
V. In the League of Provinces of the Philippines, he holds
the key position of national chairman and sits in the National
Executive Board as regional chairman for the Bicol Region.
