| Governor
Geraldine Ecleo Villaroman holds the distinction of being
the first local chief executive of the youngest province of
the Philippines, Dinagat Islands.
The political arena,
however, is no stranger to this young governor. From 2001
until her appointment as interim governor of Dinagat Islands
on February 2, 2007, she served as Chief Political Affairs
Officer in the office of Rep. Glenda Ecleo in the House of
Representatives.
On July 1, 2007 she
officially assumed as the governor of Dinagat Islands following
an overwhelming mandate given to her during the May 2007 elections.
Likewise, she was chosen
by her colleagues in the League of Provinces of the Philippines
to be the Publication and Public Relations Officer for Mindanao.
Prior to her political
involvement, Jade, as she is fondly called, began her career
as a computer assistant at the New York Company in the USA
in 1993. In 1997, she came back to the Philippines to assume
her new position as Marketing Manager of Agua Vida Company.
Two years later, in 1999, she moved to Sun Life of Canada
as a career agent.
While working in Congress,
Jade took up her Master’s degree in Public Administration
at the Jose Rizal University.
Gov. Villaroman was
born on October 3, 1970. She is married to businessman Agapito
Villaroman.
