Governor Rolando Enriquez Yebes was born on September 20, 1949 in Dipolog City to Librado Yebes and Remedios Enriquez.

After being admitted to the bar in 1975, Gov. Yebes started to build his professional career with the Bureau of Customs as a Private of the National Customs Police. His efforts to become a good employee did not become fruitless as he was able to conduct major operations which earned him commendations and awards. After years of service with commendable accomplishments, he became District Collector of Customs in the ports of the Cities of Batangas, Davao, Manila, Zamboanga, Cebu, and until his retirement in 2003.

In 2004, he came out of retirement and ran for his first-ever political position as governor of the Province of Zamboanga del Norte, with the campaign platform “Una sa Tanan, ang Katawhan (Above All Else, the People).” He scored a major victory in the 2004 elections, not only by winning the mandate of the ZaNortehanons but also by defeating the then incumbent governor who had served the province for the past 15 years.

Banking on his solid accomplishments, guided by his development agenda for Good Governance, Agricultural Development, Social Welfare, Health and Nutrition Development, Quality Education, Infrastructure Development, Environment Protection and Rehabilitation, Tourism and Cultural Heritage Development and Peace and Order, and Security, Gov. Yebes got a second mandate from his constituents during the May 14, 2007 elections.

Aside from his gubernatorial duties, Gov. Yebes also sits in the National Executive Board of the League of Provinces of the Philippines as national chairman for the Zamboanga Region. He is likewise the vice-president for Mindanao.

After completing his elementary and high school education in Dipolog City at the Miputak Elementary School and St. Vincent’s College, respectively, he went to Cebu City to pursue further education at the University of San Jose Recolletos. There he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1970 and after four years, his Bachelor of Laws.

Gov. Yebes is widowed by Susan Velez Go, with whom he has four children, namely, Madilliene, Ronald, Rolando Jr. and Richard.
