Furniture Making

Antique-motif and contemporary wood, metal and bamboo furniture are produced in the province. Adequate raw material supply and skilled labor force provide critical advantages for buyers and investors.
Furniture – using wood from trees like molave, acacia, narra & others, furniture makers, especially in San Vicente, Ilocos Sur, creatively produce tables, chairs, coffee table, telephone table and other types of furnitures.
 
   
Ceramics

Abundant local sources of a variety of clay, skilled and creative workers and a legacy in pottery and earthenware production create impetus for the ceramics industry.

Burnay Jars -- famous craft made of clay to form jars and other decorative and practical purposes, a favorite pasalubong for tourists done in Pagburnayan, Vigan City.
 
   
Loomweaving

The province is famous for its very high quality production of handwoven cloth known as the “ABEL-ILUKO”, a fabric used for Filipino formal wear. Also popular are the handwoven placemats, table napkins and blankets.

Abel – a hand loom-woven fabric with unique design. Binakol is the most common thread used which is made in Mindoro, Vigan City
 
   
Food Processing

The province’s large volume of agricultural produce can sustain a thriving food processing industry. This includes the growing chichacorn-making industry, wine and vinegar making, coffee-making, and gingertea making.

Ilocano Longganisa – ground beef mixed in soy , garlic and ground pepper, it is then inserted in pig intestines and dried.
 
   
Handicrafts

A generous mix of indigenous talent and international tastes enable Ilocos Sur artisans to weave, carve and design different lines of handicraft items from woodcraft, bamboocraft to fiber bags and baskets.

Buri Crafts – bags and fans made of buri, these crafts are made in San Juan Ilocos Sur.
 
   
Metalcraft and Blacksmithing

To complement the increasing needs of the agricultural sector for farm implements and the other service facilities like automotive, mill supplies and metal components in the housing sector, the province’s pool of skilled craftsmen along the metalcraft and blacksmithing sectors are gradually increasing.

Getteng – metal craft done manually. The getteng or scissor maker can be found in Brgy. Pandayan, San Juan.
