Govs reaffirm support for PGMA administration

Local government leaders reaffirm their support to the Macapagal-Arroyo administration. The three presidents of the LGU leagues led by Gov. Ocampos - LPP (seated, center), Mayor Guico - LMP (seated, 2nd from left) and Mayor Abalos - LCP (seated, 4th from left) hold their league’s respective manifesto of support to the Arroyo administration.

Governors remain firm in their support for the administration of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and its programs.

Gov. Leo Ocampos

In an LGU press conference held just hours before Pres. Arroyo delivered her State of the Nation Address last July 23, the governors, led by Misamis occidental Gov. Loreto Leo S. Ocampos affirmed that the partnership between the national and local governments are already on board for a progressive Philippines.

He cited the need for all officials in government, whether national or local, to cross party lines in order to achieve the President’s vision of the Philippines being a first world country in 20 years.

Gov. Sally Perez

Antique Gov. Sally Perez likewise said that the new set of officers of the League of Provinces of the Philippines will be working closely with the national government to bring to fruition its programs for development.

Gov. Migs Dominguez

This commitment was reaffirmed by Saranggani Gov. Miguel Rene Dominguez, who said that all officials in government are working together. The same commitment has been echoed by Negros Occidental Vice-Governor Isidro Zayco, who spoke on behalf of Gov. Joseph Marañon.

Gov. Rolando Yebes

Meanwhile, Zamboanga del Norte Gov. Rolando Yebes said that much has happened in his province, in terms of projects committed by Pres. Arroyo in her 2006 SONA.

He added that long-forgotten vital infrastructure projects in Mindanao have moved over the last few years.

Another local chief executive from Mindanao, Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan said that his province is fully supportive of the Arroyo administration.

“The LGUs in ARMM fully support her programs especially peace in Mindanao,” he said, pointing our, on the other hand, Sulu needs some more support from her administration.

Gov. Dick Sahali

The sentiments of Tan were reaffirmed by his fellow governor from the ARMM, Sadikul Sahali, who added that the LGUs will extend more cooperation especially in the national programs to promote peace in Mindanao.

Gov. LRay Villafuerte

LPP national chairman, Camarines Sur Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte, also underlined the need for reconciliation and collaboration between and among the different branches of government in order for the country to achieve its development goals.

Gov. Ben Evardone

He added that the LGUs are fully supportive of the current administration, and cited the President for giving priority to the Bicol River Basin and Watershed Project.

Likewise, the league’s secretary general, Eastern Samar Gov. Ben Evardone said the LGUs and the LPP are both committed to support and cooperate with the national government in order for it to achieve its development agenda and programs in the next three years.

Gov. Carlito Marquez

Like their colleagues, Aklan Gov. Carlito Marquez and Surigao del Sur Gov. Vicente Pimentel said that they will continue to support the programs of the current administation.

Marquez likewise pointed out that Pres. Arroyo has done a lot for the realization of the upgrading of the Aklan Airport, which is a major gateway to Boracay. (AJSanchez)
