Islands stand firm on its support for PGMA
One
of the country’s youngest provinces, Dinagat Islands,
has stood up and resoundingly affirmed their all-out support
for Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her administration.
Gov.
Geraldine Ecleo-Villaroman, together with key provincial officials,
gathered representatives of registered NGOs, POs, the academe,
youth, business and transport leaders to join local officials
there in the one-day Forum on the Advancement of Democracy
and Economic Growth.
Included
in the agenda for the day was a discussion on the Lozada-NBN-ZTE
controversy, wherein the representatives of the different
sectors were given the opportunity to speak out their mind
on the issue.
At
the end of the day, the participants came up with a common
statement, an all-out support for the president and her administration.
“We
will not be distracted by the motives of the detractors of
the administration. We will instead maintain our focus on
improving the lives of the greater peaceful majority,”
Gov. Villaroman said.
Likewise,
the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, headed by Vice-Governor Elvis
A. del Merced have agreed that Dinagat Islands will not and
will never succumb to the propaganda of bigoted oppositionists
who are bent on overturning the gains of the country’s
economic momentum for their personal interests.
The
governor added, “our country deserves a break from the
calls for the President to resign, while the real truth has
yet to be established by the court of law.” (AJSanchez)
