Mountain Province reaffirms support to Arroyo administration, calls for enlightenment of “dark forces”

Affirmation of support and enlightenment.

These were the two messages which the officials of the Province of Mountain Province wanted to convey, the first to Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and the latter to the so-called “dark forces working against the administration.

In a statement issued by Gov. Maximo B. Dalog, in behalf of the officials and people of the province, he said that it is their common position that Pres. Arroyo and her administration must get the firm support of the entire country because she us capably administering the affairs of the government.

“The good governance is manifested in the robust economy and the development programs’ efforts now being experienced by our country.

Dalog, who is also chairman of the Regional Development Council for the Cordillera Administrative Region, pointed out that there has never been a president before Arroyo who has been as supportive to the province and the region.

He pointed out that under Pres. Arroyo’s watch, almost P3 billion has been poured into the region for the improvement and concreting of its major road networks such as the Halsema Road, the Bontoc-Banaue road, the Bontoc-Kalinga road and the Ilocos Sur-Sabangan Road.

He said that the completion of these major infrastructure projects would impact on the province’s and the region’s tourism arrivals, creating economic activities for the people there, and consequently, graduating Mt. Province from the list of the poorest provinces.

On the other hand, the people of Mt. Province called on the “dark forces” working against the administration to finally realize that now, more than ever, the unity, solidarity, and concerted efforts of the officialdom and the entire citizenry is needed for the country to progress.
