Govs endorse
Gov. Chavit for Senator

Governors, led by Govs. Aumentado and Joson, raise the hand of Gov. Chavit Singson to represent their endorsement of him as a senatorial candidate.

Who can best champion the cause of the local governments in the Senate than a local government official himself?

With his long and impressive track record and experience as the local chief executive of the Province of Ilocos Sur, Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, would surely fit the bill.

The League of the Provinces of the Philippines, during its most recent assembly last January 12, unanimously approved a resolution fully supporting and endorsing the inclusion of Singson in the administration senatorial slate in the May 2007 mid-term elections.

For his colleagues, “Gov. Singson represents a no non-sense form of public service and governance to improve the quality of life of our people in the countryside.”

Singson’s presence in the Senate, the governors said, will provide renewed relevance in the legislative agenda of the government for genuine countryside development.

Together with his interest to work in the Senate, Singson expressed his commitment to bring with him the concerns of local governments and local government officials to reinforce local autonomy and ensure local development.

“Gov. Singson is an efficient and effective local public official who can immensely contribute in realizing the vision of the present administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to build a stronger and more progressive Republic in the next six years,” league president Gov. Erico B. Aumentado said.

Apart from being governor of Ilocos Sur, Singson has become a a popular symbol of courage and determination in the recent historic events in the Philippines, particularly those which led to the ouster of former president Joseph Estrada and the rise to power of Pres. Arroyo. (AJS)
