Gov. Aumentado
explains about the HEAP project , a grant from the Spanish
Government. |
The
League of Provinces of the Philippines has requested Pres.
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the immediate approval of the
Hospital Equipment Assistance Project by the NEDA governing
board for the pre-selected 21 provincial and city hospitals.
The project is a component of the 2nd Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) dated 30 June 2000 with Spain and the 28.5 Million Euro
Grant to the Philippines by the Spanish Government to provide
better and more accessible health and medical services to
our people in the countryside.
The project to be implemented by the DILG also aims to upgrade
the classification of secondary hospitals to tertiary hospitals,
and support medical tourism in the region.
Aside from funding support for the procurement of medical
and hospital equipment for the pre-selected 21 provincial
and city hospitals nationwide, the project will also provide
the corresponding training to hospital staff on the operation
and maintenance of the equipment.
The Spanish government has extended a new grant of 2.8 Million
Euros (roughly P1.8 Billion) over a three-year period to the
Philippines to pay for social services including education,
health, potable water, agriculture and food security, good
governance for local government and the environment.
