Gov.
LRay Villafuerte |
For
its 2nd General Assembly, the League of Provinces of the Philippines
will head off to Camarines Sur, upon the invitation of Gov.
LRay Villafuerte, on February 13, 2008 with Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker.
The theme of the assembly is “Enhancing National and
Local Government Partnerships in Improving Environmental Governance
and National Resources Stewardship.”
Apart
from Pres. Arroyo, key officials of the Department of Environment
and Natural Resources, led by Sec. Lito Atienza have been
invited to present their plans and programs for 2008.
The
Minerals Development Council, represented by Presidential
Assistant and Concurrent Executive Director, Ramon Paje, will
make a presentation on the major functions of the MDC, as
well as its plans and programs for the year.
It
may be recalled that the LPP has recently been made a member
of the MDC in recognition of the provinces’ crucial
role in the development of natural resources and ensuring
responsible mining in the country.
Likewise, Dir. Horacio C. Ramos will be updating the governors
on the revitalization Program for Responsible Mining and the
National Geohazards Assessment Program in behalf of the Mines
and Geosciences Bureau.
