gov bares accomplishments
on first 6 months in office
Governor
Eustaquio Bersamin proudly bared his accomplishments in his
first six months in office listing waste disposal management
system of hospitals in the province as his top priority.
The
governor reported that he is already finished with the Abra
Provincial Hospital waste disposal management system where
he put up a sealed pit for the human wastes coming from the
APH at the backyard of the provincial motorpool in Brgy. Pangtud,
Pidigan. This concern was reportedly never attended to by
the past administration.
That
of the district hospital in Villaviciosa is now almost finished.
He assured to do the same thing to all the other district
hospitals in the province to ensure proper waste management.
Infrastructures
come next among his priorities. The road to Cayapa, Lagangilang
has been opened with a very minimal cost. Now, the road which
used to be always abandoned in the past is an all-weather
road, he said.
The
bridge in Villaviciosa is also finished. He said he will cause
the continuation of two other bridges, the Mabilong Bridge
in Villaviciosa and the Abaquid Bridge in Danglas. But he
will do it only after the contracts are rescinded and seek
for new funding to start the projects clean and free from
graft and corruption.
“I
don’t want overpricing of construction materials because
I want to make sure, the limited project costs are enough
to get the projects done as planned,” he stressed.
Bersamin
had not forgotten his promise during his inaugural speech
when he assumed office last year to provide livelihood to
the small farmers and fisherfolks of Abra. He had directed
the office of the Environment and Natural Resources Office
(ENRO) headed by Cris Albolote and the Office of the Provincial
Agriculturist led by Marlita Basingan to work together in
managing the river in Cayapa, Lagangilang where they have
distributed tilapia fingerlings.
“No
one is born governor. One has to learn to be a good governor.
And that is what I am trying to do by attending seminars and
listening to the needs of the people in our province so I
know what to do to respond to their problems.” Bersamin
said. (Maritess Beñas /PIA-Abra)
