League Accepting Requests for Ambulances

The League of Provinces of the Philippines, through Memorandum Circular No. 2009-06 dated July 14, 2009, announced that it is ready to accept and validate requests from local government units for the availment of ambulance units under the PCSO-LGU Ambulance Procurement Program.

The program, covered by a Memorandum of Agreement between the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines and the PCSO, provides for a 60-40 cost sharing agreement between the PCSO and the local government units (LGUs), respectively. Under the MOA, LGUs shall forward their requests through their respective Leagues for endorsement to the PCSO. The MOA likewise noted that requests filed directly with PCSO will not be processed by the latter.

Prior to endorsement, LPP requires the following documentary requirements to be submitted: (1) a letter of intent addressed to the Ms. Rosario C. Uriarte, PCSO General Manager thru the President of the League; (2) a certification from the Provincial Treasurer as to the availability of funds in the amount of P356,000.00 with the corresponding Sanggunian Resolution specifying the source of the fund; and (3), a Sanggunian resolution authorizing the governor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with PCSO relative to the project.

The provincial government shall be informed by the PCSO Board of Directors for approved requests. The PCSO-LGU Ambulance Procurement Program covers a total of 150 ambulance units. These ambulances shall be distributed to the applicants on a first-come, first served basis. (JSAlcaraz)
