Gov.
Sally Z. Perez and Vice Gov. Rhodora Cadiao visit
the booth of one of the 15 placement agencies who
attended the Job Fair last June 12 at the EBJ Gym
in San Jose City. |
The
recent celebration of Independence Day in Antique saw hundreds
of Antiqueños availing services, which according
to Gov. Sally Z. Perez would answer the “problems
of poverty and ignorance”.
A total of five hundred fifteen applicants registered during
the Job Fair at the EBJ Gymnasium. This was just a tip of
the iceberg, as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)
launched its Kalayaan 2009 Mega Job and Livelihood Fair.
“I am very happy that of this day, we are dedicating
our efforts, as your leaders, to give you jobs, to give
you a choice in life,” said Gov. Perez in her speech.
“(We will give you) scholarships, jobs and whatever
things that we can do to help uplift your lives. The quality
of your lives must be first and foremost in our program,”
she added.
Aside from the Job Fair, the provincial government together
with the Department of Foreign Affairs conducted a mobile
passporting where a total of one hundred eighty five persons
applied.
The
Pres. Gloria Scholarship (PGS) implemented by TESDA also
accepted two hundred forty six scholar-applicants.
In addition, victims of typhoon Frank from five municipalities
received checks for livelihood assistance.
A
check worth P480,000 went to Tibiao, P400,000 to Laua-an,
P490,000 to Valderrama, P490,000 to Sibalom and P390,320
to San Remigio.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources also
awarded the contract for the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency
Employment Program to 232 Bantay-Gubat organizations from
the various municipalities. (PIO-Antique)
