Gov.
Auring E. Cerilles with DOH 9 Assistant Regional Director
Eduardo Gonzaga. |
Anchored
on her 7-point agenda, Governor Aurora E. Cerilles envisions
Zamboanga del Sur as an agri-industrial trade and commerce
province, with constituents who are economically productive,
socially, politically responsive and spiritually developed
in an atmosphere of peace, justice and equality.
The lady governor bared the provincial government’s
policy direction of programs and initiatives for 2008 until
2010 during the Provincial Orientation and Alliance Building
Workshop held recently.
She said that her administration is pursuing vigorous reforms
to achieve higher economic growth of the province especially
now that the proclamation of Pagadian City as the new regional
center for Zamboanga Peninsula is gradually being realized.
In
order to finance investment in infrastructures, economic growth
and social development, the provincial government seeks to
increase revenues through the enforcement of Zamboanga del
Sur Upgraded Revenue Code apart from the Internal Revenue
Allotment (IRA).
As
an agricultural province, Cerilles lay the foundation for
an equitable, efficient and ecologically sustainable growth
in the countryside by facilitating the improvement of land
transport system such as the concreting and upgrading of primary,
secondary and major farm to market roads.
Infrastructure
support is geared toward the provision of basic transport,
irrigation, flood-control and social related facilities supportive
to the thrust for a balanced agro-industrial development.
Aimed
at raising equality of human resources, social infrastructure
packages such as water supply, schools and health facilities
shall be improved. The provincial government shall continue
strengthen its livelihood programs and initiatives for increased
income among marginalized families by accelerating agro-industrial
productivity.
Zamboanga
del Sur produces bio-organic fertilizer as an intervention
for the gradual rehabilitation and protection of depleted
soil fertility; and the province shall also establish a Provincial
Agro-Industrial Center.
The
construction of a 100-bed state-of-the-art medical center
at Dao signifies the governor’s grand commitment of
improving health services and facilities for Zambosurians.
Another door for health services reforms and development is
unveiled in the advent of FOURmula One for Health.
To
implement this health services reforms and governance, Cerilles
would be presenting and defending the 5-year Province-wide
Investment Plan for Health worth P7-billion in front of the
appraisal committee as well as convince foreign supporters
and agencies to fund it.
With
Unicef, the provincial government continually implement the
enhancement and protection programs for women and children.
Cerilles
claims to have successfully improved the peace and order condition
of the province as a result of intensive efforts of various
stakeholders which eventually attract business and investment
opportunities.
Over
the next over two years, Cerilles vowed to improve the living
condition of Zambosurians. (Remai S. Alejado/ppb/pgo)
