Cagayan caravan visits coastal towns

Gov. Edgar Lara

Tuguegarao City – Cagayan Governor Edgar R. Lara led a team of medical practitioners, local goverment officials and representatives from national gov’t agencies for a 13-day medical mission and visitation to barangays along the pacific side of the province recently.

With the objective to bring the government closer to the people, they hopped from one island to another to render various services which the people rarely receive due to the distance from mainland Cagayan.

The barangay folks were given free medical and dental consultations with treatment and basic surgery, medicines, mosquito nets, vegetable and corn seeds and IEC materials on health and nutrition, environment, agriculture and fishery.

On the other hand, Governor Lara likewise distributed financial assistance to 12 previously identified beneficiaries under the Family-Based Enterprise Program (FBEP) of the provincial government. The grant will be used for small and medium livelihood projects.

The governor also met with local chief executives and barangay officials to discuss and solve several issues and concerns as he promised to continuously provide more services to help alleviate the barangay folks’ standard of living.

Among the places visited were barangay Fuga in Aparri; barangays Calayan proper, Dibay and Dilam in Camiguin Island in Calayan; barangay Patunungan in Sta. Ana; Bolos point in Gattaran; Valley Cove in Baggao and Baguio point in Peñablanca all in the Cagayan Province. (PIA Cagayan)
