Govs welcome early resolution of recycled impeachment complaints

Gov. Vicente P. Magsaysay
Zambales

THE governors got exactly what they wanted, an early resolution to the recycled impeachment complaint filed against Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The local chief executives, led by Zambales Gov. Vicente Magsaysay, welcomed the early resolution of the impeachment complaints against the president.

Magsaysay hailed the move by the overwhelming majority of the member of the House of Representatives would again pave the way for another stage in the political stability of the country, since the President can focus once more on the fundamentals of governance.

During the 11th General Assembly last August 2, Magsaysay sponsored an urgent resolution that the LPP urge the House of Representatives to immediately resolve of what they described as “recycled impeachment complaints by individuals who have no legal standing” because it gives a false impression of support for the initiative to remove the president from office.

“Our people are tired of too much politics and want the government to concentrate on the business of governance and the delivery of basic services,” Magsaysay pointed out.

The LPP took a stand that Congress must put the impeachment complaint behind it as soon as possible to “avoid unnecessary speculations and prevent further division among our people.”

Magsaysay also pointed out that the unbridled filing of impeachment complaints, that were recycled from that which was dismissed last year, have made a mockery of the process. (AJS)
