South Cotabato
Governor Daisy Fuentes envisions providing the youth with an avenue
to develop and enhance them to become little Rizals of tomorrow,
living in a clear and peaceful environment, secured of a crime-free
community and equipped with public morals. The rise of drug dependents
among the youth both out-of-school and in- school is one of the
problems being encountered by the society. The increasing use of
illegal drugs has significantly contributed to the incidence of
heinous crimes.
”One way of restoring
the future of every constituent in the province particularly the
youth, is to ensure protection from dangers some of which are brought
by those people under the influence of drugs, to safeguard their
rights and to strengthen parent-children relationships. ””By
curtailing or preventing the spread of drug abuse and human rights
violation among the youth, it cannot only create harmony and development
to everyone likewise, a better place to live in”, Governor
Daisy Fuentes said.
In support to the programs
and strengthening activities to youth organization conducted by
the members of the South Cotabato Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council
(PADAC), the Provincial Population Office assists in advocacy and
information campaign through conducting various symposia on Human
Rights, Responsible Parenthood and Anti-Illegal Drugs.
”For the second
quarter, PPO has already conducted these symposia and fora in the
municipalities of Tampakan, Norala, Tantangan, Tupi, Polomolok,
T’boli, Sto. Niño, Lake Sebu, Surallah and Banga”,
said PPO OIC Elma Paccial. ”With the conduct of these fora,
we hope not only to promote responsible parenthood, counter rise
of drug dependents and enhance knowledge and skills of the people
but in general improve public morals and maintain peace and order
towards a better quality of life for the people of South Cotabato”,
