League of
Provinces
Supports Cabinet Appointees
The
League of Provinces of the Philippines recently praised President
Arroyo on her new Cabinet appointees who will serve as workhorses
in pursuing the 10-point development agenda of her administration.
Gov. Erico Aumentado
of Bohol, LPP President, also urged critics to give Mrs. Arroyo’s
appointees a chance to prove themselves first and see if they will
perform in accordance with the President’s expectations.
Gov. Ben Evardone of
Eastern Samar Specifically hailed the appointment of Gabriel Claudio
as presidential political adviser, saying that Claudio will not
only protect the interest of the Eastern Visayas Region where he
comes from but “the development of the country as a whole.”
Aumentado said he has
had a chance to work several times with Claudio and Claudio has
demonstrated his professionalism in handling the political affairs
of the country.
Evardone said the combination
of old and new members of the Cabinet will complement the result-oriented
style of the President. He expressed hope that the Cabinet appointees
will hurdle the Commission on Appointment once their names are submitted
for confirmation. (The Manila Times, August 31, 2004)
